Pat Vasquez was more than a longtime member of Group Z. He was part of the foundation of the Datsun and Nissan enthusiast community that so many of us enjoy today.

For decades, Pat shared his passion, knowledge, and friendship with fellow enthusiasts. As one of the founders of Kaminari, he helped shape an era of automotive styling that defined the look of countless Datsun and Nissan Z cars. The fiberglass body components created through Kaminari gave owners new ways to personalize their cars and left a lasting mark on the Z community and the broader sport compact world.

Those fortunate enough to spend time with Pat know that his contributions went far beyond the parts he created. He was a storyteller, a historian, and a genuine ambassador for the hobby. Whether at a car show, club gathering, or track event, Pat always had a captivating story to tell. Many of us listened with fascination as he recounted tales of working alongside Peter Brock and other pioneers who helped elevate the Datsun community during its formative years in the 1970s and 1980s.

Most importantly, Pat was a friend. His warmth, detail, and enthusiasm made every conversation memorable. His legacy lives on not only in the cars he influenced, but in the friendships he built and the community he helped create. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by the entire Group Z family.
